Boxing - more than just a martial art
Boxing is defined as a martial art in which two people fight each other with their fists in a sporty competition. What sounds relatively easy at first glance is in fact extremely complex. It requires hard work as well as conentration, which is why the sport has reached cult status thanks to impressive heavyweight fighters like Wladimir Klitschko. Boxing fascinates and has inspired the masses for many centuries. The boxers appreciate dueling against each other with tremendous physical and mental strength. It is not surprising that this special adrenaline kick is also appealing to you and you want to put yourself in the boxing ring as a hobby or with professional ambitions à la Wladimir Klitschko. Buy the right equipment and clench your fists in order to knock out the punching bag and later your opponents in the boxing ring. Essential accessories that SportSpar offers you:
- Boxing gloves
- Head protection
- Possibly a whole set including punching bag
- Workout clothes
- Special training tools (handgrips. jump ropes and more)
Tip: The required equipment differs depending on whether you are or want to be an amateur or professional boxer. Professional boxers only need boxing bandages and gloves as personal equipment. In contrast, amateur boxers must also buy a head protection, mouthguard and a groin or chest protector (groin protector for men, breast protector for women). Watch out for quality products - especially if you want to emulate Wladimir Klitschko and think about participating in competitions.
Good boxing gloves are the aplha and omega
The most important item of equipment for boxers is undoubtedly the glove. They are usually made of genuine leather or imitation leather. Visually, they are similar to mittens. Another important feature of boxing gloves is the soft padding - it minimizes your own risk of injury as well as the likelihood of seriously damaging your opponent. Furthermore, the degree of padding functions as a classification criterion of the gloves. It is given in ounces (oz). One ounce equals 28.35 grams. Depending on use, the boxing gloves have between 6 and 18 oz:
- 6 - 8 oz = Boxing gloves for kids
- 10 - 12 oz (with laces) = Competition gloves
- 8 - 18 oz = Boxing gloves for sparring and other workouts (models filled with shock absorbing material for injury avoidance, this is about improving the skills of the boxer, not winning or losing in the competition sense)
- 16 - 18 oz = Extra soft gloves
The thumbs are usually fixed. That should also prevent injuries. In addition, the majority of the gloves is closed. In some designs, the padding extends only over the palms, but not the fingers - these are left out. Such models are used for example in the martial arts MMA (Mixed Martial Arts). SportSpar offers both closed and open boxing gloves for men, women and children. In addition, there are gloves in various sizes or ounces.
Note: You wear a bandage or a lined inner glove under the glove when boxing.
Head and mouthguard for your health
In addition to good boxing gloves, you should also look after a head and a mouthguard. The mouthguard is nothing but a plastic splint that covers your teeth, gums, lips and arches. Don't be surprised that there is only one sizel to buy. That is normal. Tailor-made designs can only be purchased from specialists (dentists or dental technicians) - a very expensive matter.
Tip: Some models can be customized by heating them in hot water.
The head protection offers you a soft padding. He protects your head from hard punches as well as falls in the boxing ring. Also look for a groin or chest protector - depending on whether you're a man or a woman.
If you get all these items combined with suitable boxing clothes, which you also find in the SportSpar boxing shop, you can start training with a clear conscience in order to start your first personal Klitschko fight in the near future!
